Maimee Her was born in 1984, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was raised in Portland, Oregon where she started her public singing career in church, at the age 7. Maimee was inspired early in life by singers like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. While Maimee grew older, her singing grew with her, as she continued to perform around the city for community events.
In 2002, her pursuit of music brought Maimee all the way to New York. She furthered her love for singing in the School of Music at Nyack College, where she discovered her classical voice and received a degree in Vocal Performance. This was also a time for Maimee to explore her ever-expanding
r'epertoire of opera, jazz, musical theatre, and rock music. She spent an intensive semester focused on songwriting, giving her voice a new demension of her own style and personality. From solo shows in and around New York City, to a choir recital in Carnegie Hall, Maimee continued to perform regularily, showcasing her talent in a variety of genres.
Since graduation, Maimee has continued with her songwriting, and has been involved in various projects with musicians around the country. Currently, Maimee also teaches music and art at the Hmong American Peace Academy in Milwaukee, WI.
